Monday february 5th it is World Animal Reiki day. This year's World Animal Reiki Day 2024 is extra special because it marks the 20th Anniversary of Kathleen Prasad kicking off Animal Reiki Source! Two decades of making a positive impact on animals worldwide and teaching others to do the same – that's a big deal!
Let's rewind a bit and see how World Animal Reiki Day (WARD) got its start. Back in 2016, Kathleen got together with some awesome volunteers from the Non-profit Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA) to organize and launch WARD.
It's become this fantastic opportunity for everyone to contribute to a brighter future for animals around the globe.
Now, here's the heart of it – Kathleen firmly believes that animals are wise and spiritual beings deserving of our respect and kindness. This belief is at the core of all the teachings Kathleen developed over the last 20+ years, especially the Let Animals Lead® method.
It's also a huge part of the inspiration behind this annual worldwide event, a celebration meant to honor animals as our guides and healers.
WARD is our way of reminding ourselves that we have a choice – a choice to treat animals with love and compassion, and a choice to let them have a say in their own healing, especially when practicing Reiki with them.
Now, why February 5th, you ask? Well, that's Dakota's birthday, Kathleens dog who played a massive role in inspiring WARD back in 2016.
And as we celebrate World Animal Reiki Day on February 5th, let's not forget the essence of the Let Animals Lead® method that I follow with passion. I find it truly heartwarming that animals have the legacy to decide if they want to share Reiki energy, determining the flow and duration as per their comfort.
It's a powerful reminder that in this healing journey, the animals are the ones in charge, not us humans. Let's continue to honor and respect their unique presence and wisdom, allowing them to lead the way in their own healing. Happy World Animal Reiki Day to all, and here's to the incredible connection between humans and our furry friends!
Below is a picture of me at Luna Foundation, sharing Reiki energy with a dog who was really scared. In this moment, I'm meditating and sharing Reiki energy by the Let Animals Lead® method, allowing the dog to decide if she want to partake in the healing energy, and in what capacity. It's a beautiful way of connection and respect, letting the dog take the lead in their own well-being. I'm grateful for these heartwarming experiences at Luna Foundation and the opportunity to contribute to their sanctuary.
